Life Drawing 02 – Kingston 2020/21

 Brief

Today we will specifically focus on mark making and how being aware of the marks we make can be an invaluable way to improve not only our drawing but also our picture making skills through the subject of still life. Still life’s can sometimes seem like a dull or outdated subject to work from but I have selected a number of interesting approaches below to show that it can still be a relevant and interesting format. WEDNESDAY PAINTING DEMOThis week Acrylic on paper

From this week I will introduce a painting demo as a permanent feature of the Wednesday classes to demonstrate different approaches to using wet media.

The class is useful for all levels of ability.

Required materials and objects

Drawing materials, charcoal, graphite, ink, pastels – anything else you might want to try.

Please bring some every day objects to draw (at least 2 largish things ie. No fridge magnets or figurines/toys). As a group we can share these. Bring things from your garden, house, kitchen sink, recycling bin – use the following image by John Bratby for inspiration… look for seemingly boring objects that have interesting surfaces, materials, shiny, dull, rough, glass, plastic, wood, metal.
